TOMY releases Fukumai TOMICA, a new lottery-type lineup within its TOMICA die-cast miniature car series. The vehicles are scheduled to arrive in Japan on Dec. 27, with rollout across seven additional Asian markets to follow. The release marks the 12th installment in TOMICA’s annual New Year series, which debuted in 2013 and draws inspiration from Japanese culture and traditional symbols of good fortune.
The collection features six designs, each inspired by a lucky motif: a horse representing the 2026 Oriental zodiac, a long-tailed tit, a white fox, a kylin, a crab, and a gold crocodile. Each motif is paired with a specific vehicle model and finished with matte textures and gold decorative elements. The products are sold in a mystery-box format, meaning customers cannot select a specific design.
TOMY named the series Fukumai TOMICA to evoke the idea of good fortune, combining the Japanese words for luck and dance. The lineup includes both passenger vehicles and specialty models, featuring suspension systems, opening doors, and decorative tires inspired by the movement of animals.
The New Year TOMICA series has become a recurring seasonal offering used for gifts, New Year greetings, and early-year luck rituals, particularly popular in Japan and other Asian markets. TOMY reports that the mystery-box format and culturally rooted designs have also made the series appealing to international visitors seeking souvenirs.
Fukumai TOMICA will be sold online and through toy stores, mass retailers, specialty TOMICA and PLARAIL shops. Each item is priced at ¥770 and is recommended for kids ages 3 and up.
