WoodMee has launched WoodMee and the Buildable Beings on Kickstarter, expanding its modular wooden construction system with a new line of character-driven builds designed for creative, open-ended play. The campaign introduces a series of buildable beings that combine WoodMee’s natural wooden components with a flexible connector system, allowing builders to create figures that can be reimagined, rebuilt, and customized over time.
The line is created by Jesper Elling. Elling worked for The LEGO Group as a designer for 25 years.
Unlike traditional construction toys that rely on step-by-step instructions, the Buildable Beings are intentionally open-ended, encouraging builders to experiment with form, balance, and structure. The system supports multiple configurations, allowing constructors to create characters with varying proportions, poses, and expressions. Once assembled, the figures can function both as playable creations and as display-ready objects, blending play value with design-forward aesthetics.
The Buildable Beings concept builds on WoodMee’s existing emphasis on tactile materials and intuitive engineering. Made from wood, the components are designed to be durable and reusable, supporting repeated play and long-term engagement. The modular nature of the system allows pieces from different sets to be combined, expanding creative possibilities while reinforcing problem-solving and spatial reasoning skills.
Through Kickstarter, WoodMee is offering backers access to the new Buildable Beings sets while also gauging interest from families, educators, and design-conscious consumers seeking alternatives to screen-based play. The campaign highlights the brand’s focus on creativity-led play experiences that grow with the user, appealing to both children and adults who enjoy hands-on building and artistic expression.
With the launch of WoodMee and Buildable Beings, the company continues to position itself in the construction and creative play spaces, emphasizing versatility, craftsmanship, and imagination-driven design.
