Circana revealed that total video game spending in the U.S. is up 3% compared to last year — reaching a projected $4.9 billion — driven by mobile content, the Nintendo Switch 2, and the blockbuster release of Battlefield 6.
After its launch on Oct. 10, Battlefield 6 quickly climbed the charts across every video game platform, smashing franchise sales records and becoming the best-selling game of 2025 thus far. The video game produced the highest single-month sales the industry has seen in the last three years, surpassing the previous record set in 2022 by Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II.

Nearly four months after the Nintendo Switch 2’s initial release, the console continues to lead hardware sales across the U.S. Nintendo sold 328,000 units in October alone, outpacing the original Switch by 68% and PlayStation 4’s previous velocity by 3%. Overall, hardware spending reached $351 million in October, a 36% increase from last year.
Mobile gaming experienced significant growth throughout the past month, with Sensor Tower reporting a 10% rise in spending compared to October 2024. The top 10 mobile games in the U.S. by consumer spending in October were Monopoly Go!, Royal Match, Last War: Survival, Candy Crush Saga, Clash Royale, Kingshot, Gossip Harbor, Royal Kingdom, Whiteout Survival, and Township.
