Mattel’s Ken is stepping off the beach to explore far-off places in Expedia’s Super Bowl LX spot. Before and after the game, the cultural icon will star in a new commercial titled “Going Places with Ken.”
In this 30-second spot, viewers see Ken travel with confidence and simplicity when booking with Expedia. By bundling and saving on flights, hotels, and more, he can visit destinations like Italy, Japan, and Mexico City. The commercial is set to run in pre- and post-game placements throughout North America.
“Going Places with Ken” marks the beginning of Mattel’s year-long partnership with Expedia, positioning Ken as their new Brand Ambassador. To further celebrate Ken’s 65th anniversary, the collaboration will head to Threads, where Ken will host a Q&A session focused on travel inspiration and planning. Expedia will also launch a Ken-themed sweepstakes Feb. 8, giving away 65 prizes of $1000 in OneKeyCash to help people travel.
“Expedia quickly spotted Ken’s rising appeal and cast him for his big game debut. This year-long partnership makes a clear statement: Ken isn’t just relevant; he is a premium talent with the presence, range, and reach to inspire fans across generations. Expedia’s brand spot captures his charm and shows the world Ken is going places,” says Mahta Eghbali, Vice President of Strategic Alliances & Partnerships, Mattel.
