Originally formed in 2006, Crystal Castles is a well-known synth and electronic dance music group from Canada. They immediately gained attention with their unique sound from lo-fi beats to intense synthwave. Their first album, Crystal Castles, was originally released in 2008, and though the promotion and album artwork came with a lot of challenges, the band’s music hit it off with fans and critics. Crystal Castles II was recorded in a variety of locations giving each track in the album a unique sound and giving the band their highest charted song on Billboard. The band has been inactive since 2017, but their musical impact has left a lasting influence on experimental and electronic dance sounds.
