Play Social, the company behind the Play Playground social gaming experience, welcomes Phil Royle as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective Jan. 5.
Royle has more than 25 years of experience in international attractions development, highlighted by his work at Merlin Entertainments and LEGOLAND. Royle will lead Play Social’s growth as it broadens its presence in both domestic and global markets. Play Playground currently has locations in Las Vegas and Nashville.
Play Playground brings the power of play to life with nostalgic games, engaging physical challenges, and a high-quality food and beverage program, reminding guests that play isn’t just for kids. Play Playground welcomes guests ages 13 and up during daytime hours. The event space becomes 21+ after 7 p.m.
Throughout Royle’s extensive career, he’s driven major attraction projects from concept to opening. Royle started his career at Chessington World of Adventure and the London Eye in the United Kingdom. He then went on to assist in the creation of seven Gateway Attractions, including LEGOLAND Discovery Centers in Georgia, Texas, and New York.

Royle held the role of Vice President of LEGOLAND Development & Operations, and soon after became the first employee of LEGOLAND New York Resort. There, he guided the park in its early stages, securing community and state support.
