We want to start this new year off right, which is why we have a one of kind new set that promises to set the tone for this new year of Magic The Gathering. A fast paced set that has a unique game play with a focus on vehicles, artifacts and racing team dynamics the MTG world has never seen before. In this set, we will see a cross planar race theme “Ghirapur Grand Pix”, which will feature different teams from various planes in which they compete in high speed races for the ultimate prize, the “Aetherspark!!” Let’s get down to what this set has to offer, why it’s a great set to have, and what this set means for where MTG is headed this year!!
WHAT IS AETHERDRIFT & WHAT IS BEING RELEASED FOR THIS NEW SET?
Aetherdrift will come in the format in a standard legal set and this releases contains: Player Boosters, Collector Boosters, Commander Precons, bundle and a special limited edition “Finish Line” Bundle. A notable feature about the player boosters is that they will each include a box topper pack with a unique foil full-art basic lands.
PLAY BOOSTER
Play Booster boxes each include a Box Topper pack containing 1 of 10 first-place foil, full-art basic lands and 1 of 127 first-place foil cards.
Each Play Booster contains:
- 14 Magic: The Gathering cards
- 6–9 Commons
- 3–5 Uncommons
- 1–4 Rares or mythic rares
- 1 Traditional foil card of any rarity
- 1 Non-foil token or art card

COLLECTOR BOOSTER
- 15 Magic: The Gathering cards
- 10–12 Traditional foil cards

WHY IS “AETHERDRIFT” GOING TO BE A GOOD SET TO HAVE AND WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR WHERE MAGIC THE GATHERING IS HEADED THIS YEAR?
Aetherdrift reintroduces the Energy mechanic, a resource system that will finally allow players to accumulate and spend energy counters for various effects!! This mechanic, last seen in the “Kaladesh block,” offers unique strategic opportunities and deck-building possibilities! Starting in 2025, all “Universes Beyond” sets, featuring characters and worlds from other franchises, will be playable in every format, including Standard. This change marks a move to mix Magic’s classic lore with external universes which aligns with the game’s evolving direction towards inclusivity and thematic diversity in 2025!!
