The American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) has recognized the Baby Safety Alliance (formerly JPMA), in partnership with the Baby Safety Foundation (formerly JPMA Cares), as a Power of Associations Silver Award winner for its Safe Sleep Campaign.
The Safe Sleep Campaign addressed a leading cause of preventable infant deaths, according to the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), and delivered life-saving guidance and tips to millions of parents and caregivers nationwide through partnerships, media, and hospital distribution.
The campaign focuses on several aspects of safe sleep for infants, including the ABCs of sleep (Alone, on their Back, and in a Crib), safe sleep options like cribs, bassinets, or play yards, when to transition to a toddler bed, whether or not to use secondhand products, and more.
The American Academy of Pediatrics reports approximately 3,500 babies die each year in the U.S. from sleep-related causes, with underserved communities impacted disproportionately. In many cases, these deaths are preventable. Hence, Baby Safety Alliance utilized digital, social, print, and other media to reach parents and caregivers in an effort to educate them on safe sleep practices.
