Publang is steadily growing its BL library and brought a treat for fans at Anime NYC.
During their panel, the Seattle-based publisher revealed several additions to their print licenses. Publang had previously announced plans to expand into print editions of manhwa, and Anime NYC marked the unveiling of their first two titles. Alongside those, the company confirmed the print release of December following their debut print license, Define the Relationship. To everyone’s delight, they also announced the English novel serialization of Passion.
December (Printed novel)
Written by samk, December is an omegaverse BL about Yeonwoo, who returns to a city full of traumatic memories he fled three years earlier. His past trauma left him distrustful of alphas, so he builds emotional walls to protect himself. But when he recognizes a familiar woodsy scent, Yeonwoo realizes it belongs to the only alpha who has never made him feel afraid.
Publang launched the digital serialization on September 20, 2024. The hardcover edition will come with a special gift for readers who order through Publang’s website.
Payback (Printed manhwa)
Also written by samk, with art by Fujoking, Payback follows Lee Yoohan, a gangster whose choices lead to tragedy. After his younger brother is killed in a revenge attack and his mother dies soon after, Yoohan struggles under a mountain of hospital debt. One night, he meets a man from the entertainment industry who offers to sponsor him—and help him seek revenge.
Publang began serializing the digital version on March 27, 2024, and the series is also available to read digitally on Lezhin.
Debut or Die (Printed manhwa)
Adapted from DS.Back’s webnovel, Debut or Die is illustrated by SOHEUN with jangjin handling the story. The drama follows Ryu Gunwoo, who wakes up after a night of drinking in the body of Park Moondae. In this new life, he must debut as an idol within a year or die. His only chance lies in the grueling survival program Idol Inc., but Moondae is a complete novice. To survive, he must find a way to become a world-class idol.
The digital serialization is currently available on Tapas.
Passion (Novel serialization)
Written by Yuuji, Passion was one of the most requested BL titles for an English release. The story follows Jeong Taeui, who takes a dangerous job as an agent after his uncle offers him a way out of his twin brother’s shadow. Taeui’s easygoing life spirals when he meets Ilay Riegrow, a fellow agent who appears to be a sadistic psychopath. Despite the danger, Taeui believes there is more to Ilay than his brutal exterior—but getting closer may be more dangerous than he expects.
Passion runs six volumes in Korean, though Publang has not confirmed whether the English serialization will match that length. Publang teased the possibility of a print release but emphasized, “Serialization first.” A manhwa adaptation is currently available on Tappytoon.
Publang has not yet announced release dates for the new print and serialized titles.
